Elysium Health is gaining speed as a leading provider of high-quality supplements. With top scientists at the reins, Elysium Health is creating health products for the purpose of helping people live healthier, longer. And with the recent addition of two new board members, Elysium Health is garnering even more expert support to aid in the creation of such products and to drive their mission forward.

Elysium Health’s New Board Members

Daniel Kahneman, Ph.D., and Gary Gottlieb, M.D., recently joined Elysium Health’s Scientific Advisory Board. Dr. Kahneman holds several distinguishing titles such as the Professor of Psychology and Public Affairs Emeritus at the Woodrow Wilson School and the Eugene Higgins Professor of Psychology Emeritus at Princeton University. He has been called one of the world’s most influential living psychologists and therefore brings a wealth of knowledge in the field of economic science to the Elysium Health team.

Dr. Gottlieb joins two other board members on the Elysium Health Board of Directors: Jim Manzi, chairman of Thermo Fisher Scientific Inc. and David Fialkow, co-founder of General Catalyst. Dr. Gottlieb is a professor of psychiatry at Harvard Medical School, CEO of Partners in Health, and is a member of the National Academy of Medicine. Partners in Health is a global non-profit organization that brings modern medicine to the world’s poorest communities.  Therefore, it is no surprise that Dr. Gottlieb would be a great fit for Elysium Health, which is making high-quality health products accessible to the average consumer.

Additionally, Dr. Gottlieb is a geriatric psychiatrist who established the University of Pennsylvania Medical Center’s first program in geriatric psychiatry.  He developed this program into a nationally recognized research training and clinical program, and now lends his expertise to the Elysium Health team to help make Elysium Health a leader in creating scientifically sound and innovative health products in the aging field.

About Elysium Health

Elysium Health was started by Eric Marcotulli, Dan Alminana, and chief scientist Dr. Leonard Guarente with the mission of helping people “live healthier, longer through extraordinary science.” Although the idea of “anti-aging” has been associated with Elysium Health, the company is squarely focused on working to improve the healthspan — the healthy, functional years of one’s life — not lifespan. By working together with the brightest minds in science, Elysium Health is able to create evidence-based products that support their mission and to make these products available directly to consumers.

Elysium Health is unlike other supplement companies that you may see on pharmacy shelves. Elysium Health follows a rigorous routine to ensure that every jar of product that it produces is premium quality. To do this, a structured research and development regimen is followed for each product. This regimen includes:

  • Literature Review: The Elysium Health team looks for molecules that have the promise to make an impact on health in a substantial way. Once these molecules are found, an extensive review of existing literature is done to help understand its characteristics and potential health implications.
  • Preclinical Development: Preclinical models are used to expand upon current literature to look deeper into the potential for the molecule to be implemented into a commercialized product.
  • Safety and Efficacy Testing: Once a compound has been selected for development, Elysium Health conducts human studies on the safety and pharmacokinetics (how the compound interacts with the body) of the compound in healthy individuals. Further trials extend the base of safety data on the compound and look at its efficacy.

Basis and Elysium Health

Basis and Elysium Health

Elysium Health is currently promoting its first product—Basis. Basis is a daily supplement that supports cellular health by increasing levels of NAD+. In a clinical trial, published in npj: Aging and Mechanisms of Disease, adults taking the recommended dose daily over the course of several weeks increased NAD+ levels by an average of 40-percent. These increased levels were able to be sustained at 60 days. Although more studies need to be done to confirm more long-term findings, the initial results of clinical trials are very promising since NAD+ is essential to hundreds of biological process in the body, and it’s known to decrease in levels as a person ages.

Along with scientific integrity, Elysium Health takes pride in the consistency of quality of Basis. Each jar of Basis goes through quality testing to ensure that adequate concentrations of ingredients are contained in each batch of the supplement. Consumers can check the purity testing page to see exactly what is in each jar of the product. Elysium Health allows for this type of testing and transparency to show consumers that they truly care about the quality of their product and adhere to the strictest regulations to ensure that every consumer enjoys the highest quality product.

The Future of Elysium Health

The future of Elysium Health looks very bright, and it is not just because of the growing team of intellectual minds on the Elysium Health Scientific Advisory Board. It is also because of the promising research in progress on in other areas of health. Elysium Health is currently in the process of researching products that focus on cognitive health, skin health and function, and muscle function.

These products are in the pipeline, in various stages of pre-clinical and clinical trials. It takes about two years for the development of a new product, and Elysium Health will only release a product if it shows promise for making a real impact on the healthspan of individuals. With such a rigorous system in place, and with leading minds behind the scenes, Elysium Health has an exciting future ahead and many innovative products in the years to come.
