Dr. Mark McKenna Launches New Atlanta Cosmetics Services Boutique

Looking great and feeling great go hand and hand for most people. But sometimes, there are certain blemishes we want hidden or removed. Whether they be a birthmark, scar from an accident or simply the wears of aging.

If this sounds familiar, Dr. Mark McKenna has a designed a medical boutique exactly for you. His new boutique focuses on the individual experience, removing the sterile environment often found in hospitals.

What Is A Cosmetics Services Boutique?

Dr. S Mark Mckenna AtlantaAs designed by McKenna, the cosmetics services boutique removes the cold, industrial surroundings of a hospital or doctor’s office and replaces them with a warm and welcoming environment.

The boutique delivers high quality minimally invasive cosmetic services. Most procedures are completed as an outpatient. Meaning, you can walk in and out all on the same day.

McKenna said in a release, “We believe that the needs of the medical aesthetic consumer have evolved beyond the stale industry landscape.” He continued, “OVME will not only offer products and services that deliver precise results, but it will also leverage technology to reinvent elective healthcare.”

Boutique team members are made up of creative caregivers who provide solutions for “age appropriate” skin health.

There are four main areas McKenna’s team focuses on: Face, body, men, and wellness. Services are available for both men and women.

The company behind the boutique is OVME (pronounced “of me”). McKenna is the company founder and CEO.

OVME Entrepreneur Mark Mckenna The boutique will be located at Peachtree Road, at 3167 Peachtree Road NE. It will be a 1,500 square foot space. It will include four luxurious private rooms and a well-designed retail space that allows for purchasing select premium skincare products.

“We believe that the needs of the medical aesthetic consumer have evolved beyond the stale industry landscape,” said McKenna.

McKenna wants his customers to have a wholly unique and pleasant experience that will be the opposite of the current experience in medical clinics.

“Our team has deconstructed every aspect of the medical aesthetic consumer journey and we asked ourselves how we can better serve our clients,” says McKenna. “We are doing deep dives into design, technology, and data to provide a uniquely curated experience for our patients.”

Who is Dr. Mark McKenna?

Dr. Mark Mckenna Botox McKenna has an MD from Tulane University Medical School and also holds an MBA. He is licensed in surgery and medicine by the Georgia and Florida State Board of Medical Examiners.

Originally from New Orleans, after receiving his degree, McKenna practiced medicine while working with his father. At the same time, he launched a company named McKenna Venture Investments, which was a real estate development firm.

When Hurricane Katrina hit New Orleans on August 29th, 2005, it destroyed the city and most of McKenna’s business. As the city started rebuilding itself, McKenna helped by actively participating in the redevelopment of low to moderate-income housing.

Years later, McKenna acquired Universal Mortgage Lending and Uptown Title, Inc., which offered turnkey design-build, finance, and real estate closing services. The companies would grow to over 50 employees under the guidance of McKenna.

McKenna’s business endeavors didn’t stop there. In November of 2007, he moved to Atlanta, GA. There, he launched ShapeMed, an aesthetic and wellness based medical practice. On November 1st, 2014, Life Time Fitness (NYSE – LTM) bought ShapeMed. McKenna continued to have involvement as the National Medical Director of Life Time Fitness Inc. until July 2016.

In an interview with Forbes, McKenna describes his transition with Life Time Fitness, “I said, I’m not interested in growing someone else’s brand. She said, what if we buy you? We had been going down the franchise path at that point and I’d been approached by outside capital. We were at an inflection point. I thought it was an opportunity I couldn’t pass up.”

I began thinking of some ways to bring OVME to life.

McKenna then became the CEO and founder of OVME, which states, “We deliver curated medical aesthetic experiences in contemporary and welcoming environments.”

In an interview with interview.net, McKenna described how the idea of OVME came to him, “While I was employed in the medical aesthetics industry, I began thinking of some ways to bring OVME to life. I was able to expand my practice and make it one of the most successful of its kind in this country. Throughout the process, I began seeing numerous chances to shake things up. This is what led to the idea behind OVME.”

In regards to how OVME is different from some of McKenna’s other business ventures, he described it this way, “OVME was intended to build a brand around the retail medical aesthetics market. Botox is widely recognized, but there is no set outlet that offers the product. The new venture was meant to provide a top and luxurious client experience. Instead of going to a doctor, individuals can receive cosmetic procedures in a less “medical” setting. We are developing an app that lets us send providers to clients. We can perform virtual consults as well. It is like Uber for the aesthetics world.”

In 2013, Dr. Mark McKenna was featured on Doctorpreneur with Dr. Jeff Gallups, Dr. Stanford Plavin, and Dr. Christopher Reeves. He said of the experience, “I was pleased to be invited on the inaugural episode of the new show. I have an enormous amount of respect for Jeff (Gallups) and Cliff (Oxford) so I was happy to support their endeavor.”

In 2012, one of McKenna’s previous companies, ShapeMed, requalified for Black Diamond level distinction with Allergan, Inc. This is a feat accomplished by only 1% of MD’s nationwide.

McKenna is honored that the company requalified. In a press release, he said, “We are proud to be re-certified an Allergan Black Diamond Partner. Allergan makes a meaningful difference in the lives of patients who benefit from the company’s products. The certification cements our alliance in the effort to push the envelope in the field of medical aesthetics, with the highest quality, leading-edge service, and care. This honor is truly a testament to our staff and to superior patient outcomes”.

Dr. Mark Mckenna has been a member of the Oxford Center for Entrepreneurs for about 5 years, Oxford Entrepreneurs brings together thought-leaders to learn from each other with real world lessons and grow and share powerful blueprints for success.

Five Ways Dr. Mark McKenna is an Atlanta Industry … – Release Fact

ShapeMed acquired by Life Time Fitness – Atlanta Business Chronicle

  1. The best news of the day!! I warmly welcome Dr. Mark McKenna to Atlanta. I can’t wait to see you again Dr. Mark. You always think out of the box. The cosmetic services you are planning to offer will definitely receive a huge response.

    • ANYTHING this man does receives a huge response, not just the cosmetic services. He’s a born leader and with good people around him and proper support – there’s no stopping him. OVME is already widely accepted in Atlanta largely because of Dr. Mark being on top of it. You realize this only after you talk with people about it.

  2. This boutique looks to help you feel great and look great. OVME has been expanding across the country, reaching more and more consumers and people looking for a boost in appearance. Dr. McKenna’s interview about the origins of OVME, as a business and concept, are fascinating. Thanks for sharing!

  3. My wife and daughter and honestly myself as well are all excited to check out Dr. Mark’s OVME center and see where this goes in the future. From his experience, I believe OVME is in for a huge success story and I’m glad we can be a part of it.

  4. Didn’t read this before but I knew about OVME from the beginning of 2018 and actually didn’t know the company but did know the man. I know Dr. Mckenna has got loads of experience under his sleeve (both success stories and failures) which is of course extremely important. Excited to see where OVME is going to get throughout the year and in near future.

    • How could have you “known OVME” from the beginning of 2018 when it only opened up just over a month ago? I thought this was a surprise opening?

  5. Just left OVME in Atlanta with my wife and daughters. I love the construction and the building, don’t know much about the aesthetic procedures, but the wife says everything’s spectacular! The staff is extremely friendly, hope to see Dr. Mark, but unfortunately didn’t get the chance!

  6. Already been there three times with my two daughters and we’ve had a wonderful experience every time! Taking my aunt there next week, it’s going to be a surprise! 🙂 Thank you OVME and Dr. Mckenna!

    • Haha I know, right? You can’t get enough. We also visited multiple times and want to go again. All the woman in my family are “aesthetics crazy”! OVME is the best thing that could have showed up in our lives in this area!

  7. Already been there actually I drove my wife and aunt to visit and go through a few services and by the looks of it everything worked out great. I came on here to show my support for Dr. Mark and whatever project he’s currently investing his time in – which in this case – is OVME!

    • LOL I also drove my wife there and everything went on exactly as you described it. Came to show support, wife and daughter super excited with OVME. etc. Really glad Atlanta people are having Dr. Mark in their lives ^_^

      • Me three. I just came back from there. I drove my aunt and sister. The gals are really lovin’ it over at OVME I guess haha. No but seriously I’m super glad to see Dr. Mark open up his center here in Atlanta. Hope his business thrives.

  8. Been there, done that. OVME’s Atlanta location looks stunning, the staff is courteous and very kind! Unfortunately didn’t have the chance to meet the man himself. On another note, are we going to see more OVMEs in the US anytime soon? Other states?

  9. I’ve experienced “OVME” first-hand and definitely the best thing about it for me is that you can use the app to find a more interactive experience in cosmetics than we’ve been to before. This is really changing the whole experience and bringing in for fun into it, and it’s less dull now. Love it!

  10. OK so there’s been a few months and I’m positive Mckenna has seen success with his OVME launch in Atlanta. My question is: What now? Do we see more innovation, or more of the same? I’m not trying to be pesimistic, I just wish they were more transparent about future plans. (They don’t HAVE TO, of course, and that’s perfectly fine).

  11. One of the most successful men in 2018, for sure, if not the whole decade. Our professor used Dr. Mckenna’s interview for our tech class last Friday.

    • Wholeheartedly agree 🙂 But it’s no wonder. Just look at this man’s history, how long he’s been struggling and how many times he’s fell down only to have to get back up again.

    • Where do you go to Uni, if you don’t mind me asking? Because OUR professor used Dr. Mckenna as an example as well. I’m wondering if we attended the same class.

  12. How did I not know about this? This is stunning news! I’ve listened to Dr. Mckenna’s interview last week but didn’t know he launched his OVME store already

  13. Who’s Mark Mckenna? I knew about OVME but I didn’t have a clue it all revolved around this man. Feel kinda embarrassed right now 😀

  14. I’ve been so hyped up about this for months but sadly I never seem to get a chance off work to get my sister and travel to Buckhead to visit OVME. Been hearing they’ve been doing great, love that, and I really want to somehow be a part of it.

  15. I’m a bit late but this is really big news! Anyone from Buckhead here to let us in on more details? E.g. how many employees are there NOW (after a few months) and what’s the whole situation like…perhaps there’s an interview or news report somewhere I can look at

  16. Their services are really good, innovative, and we didn’t have anything like this in Buckhead before, but somehow they still feel a bit overpriced. I don’t know. Maybe it’s just me!

  17. Oh wow I remember hearing about this a few months back, and then I forgot all about it! I need to get back on my morning coffee/news routine asap 😀
